I’d encourage you to read this article by David Hogue on Using pages, states and layers. He explains the differences very well and uses visual imagery to eliminate any confusion on what he’s describing.

Ok.I’ve tried used fireworks cs4 to create a slide show since the adobe flash cs4 while it is ok, it seems to be a lot of work to create a simple set of controls (slide bar, stop vs. play alone etc.)
The fireworks does a really good job. does in a few simple commands and it creates a great looking swf file which does just what I wanted. The problem is that unlike with flash, fireworks doesn’t put all the necessary files reqired to use the files in a web site (i have been using ms expression web2). in any event, the files created by the fireworks look a lot like short cuts or some such thing. Any idea what is necessary to make this work?
